OUR SCHOOL

Southside Baptist Church was organized January 31, 1977, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Johns, 1106 Washington Avenue, Waycross, Georgia.  The first worship service was conducted Sunday, February 6, 1977.  The evening service concluded with 24 charter members.  The first Sunday School was conducted on February 20, 1977, with forty-two (42) present.

Southside Christian School began with preschool and kindergarten in February, 1981.  In August of that year, first and second grades were started.  At the beginning of the 1982-83 school year, a full academic program, preschool through twelfth grade was started.

In the 1990’s Southside Christian School reached an enrollment of 130 students.  In May 2003 a fire destroyed Southside Baptist Church sanctuary along with a large portion of the education plant where the school was located.  The 2003-04 school year enrollment was adversely affected partly due to moving into limited classroom space at the First Presbyterian Church.  In January 2005, the school moved into the modern facilities it now enjoys on Knight Avenue.

The school was granted Full Accreditation from the Georgia Private School Accreditation Council (GAPSAC) through the Georgia Association of Christian Schools (GACS) in 2010.  As a result, enrollment has steadily grown. Although the recent pandemic affected Southside Christian School, it did not close the doors. The board and faculty persevered and are now seeing the result of their efforts. God continues to bless Southside.

Administrator's Message

God is doing great things at and through Southside Christian School and I am thrilled to be a part. SCS recently celebrated 40 years of providing educational achievement to the Waycross area and I believe this is only the beginning.

I enjoy working with our faculty and staff under the direction of our School Board and Pastor Teke Dixon. Together we pray our students excel academically and remain in good health, but ultimately that they come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

In Christian love,

Monica Youngblood

Our Vision

To academically prepare students to be servant leaders who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Students will be instructed to demonstrate Godly character and Biblical stewardship.
